OP
Totally different genre, but I thought as a metal fan you might dig this band Humanfly:

I like it at times it reminded me of the lighter down songs with an open like vibe but than at times

Good stuff! Kind of more doom/death style almost, with the blast beats etc.

Yeah, why the hell would he drum for *Avenged Sevenfold*? Are they like best buds or something?

(13,324 posts)1. Is this new? I don't follow DT, honestly, not so much my kind of metal.

In some ways they're on that post-rock/post-metal kind of trip, not unlike Isis. Don't know if you're into that style though.

I like how right in the middle it breaks down into complete Sabbath worship. Here's something kinda the same general a tad bit heavier

I can also hear a touch of crusty hardcore in there, which is always nice.

I've also seen the Abel Ferrara flick of the same name, which isn't bad actually.

(10,418 posts)9. It's probably hard to follow a guy like Mike Portnoy
Portnoy is one of the world's best drummers. I think he made a mistake when he left Dream Theater. I also don't understand how he hasn't landed a world class gig by now. It sounds to me as if he's just kind of been dicking around.

Everything I've heard so far from this album sounds uninspired
