Beyond the fact it's just BAD stuff, the putrid smell of dirty grease at high temps is enough for me Populist_Prole Sep 2013 #2

I can tell when I'm downwind of a "greasy spoon" or fast food joint. The smell nearly makes me want to retch, and I damn near do in some cases. I've not eaten that stuff in so long it's way way beyond any sense of deprivement of pleasure. I just don't like it anymore: Therefore I don't miss it. Plenty of other tasty foods I like.

Tonight was the first time in a bunch of years going to one mostly due to being on the road and not wanting to stray to far from the highway and the undercooked chicken pretty much assured next time we will just go looking for some place else

To me that would have been worth a few words with the manager.

Tip: When you're on the road, get off the highway at a small town. You find a lot of incredibly good mom-and-pop restaurants and diners that you would never have known about otherwise. Plus, their prices are reasonable and you get generous portions, and it's a really, really cool Americana experience, to boot -- especially if it's a place where the locals hang out.
