(14,120 posts)I an excited!
But scared as well.
This is the first time not being told what to do (all my young life I was told what to do by my over controlling father).
This is also the first time in ten years I was not part of a team. My (now) ex SO and I was a great working team. It was that teamwork that got us threw the last 2-2 1/2 years. Now I am flying solo. And I now I am heading for rough waters.
The odds are stacked against me. But, I will be in a place I call home. I will be able to move and do stuff. Not have others draining me of meager resources. I have a list of resources to go to and get some help.
Yes it will be dark to start, but this unlucky kitty has a way to land on her feet!
And thanks to some very generous people, I am not going totally broke. Staring Sept. 30th I will be able to start drawing on $100 thanks to DU and Wishadoo.
Yeah, I need to call and make sure the card guys know I will be traveling, but that is not a big deal.
I will have something like 100 something for me, myself and I from my last paycheck.
I have a nice shirt, nice shoes, and a pair of black and a pair of Kaki pants. That should cover most job requirements for most uniforms.
I don't know what mess I have got to clean up to get section 8 housing and SNAP's (food stamps) due to that man's great advice, but I will find a way.
I am going to make it. I will just be a little lonely.

(14,120 posts)I just got rattled a bit with that call he gave me and with my check not being there for me to pick up at my ex Job. It should be in on Friday at the latest. I really need to stop worrying so much.

(12,869 posts)there is no guide or web site to follow. Everybody has to find their own way.
The sad part is that in many places, the only way to find help is through the legal system. Then they will say, "We were there all the time." That is fine, just how is a person to know which rock to look under.

(14,120 posts)The HUD/VASH program is a off shoot for Vets. That was the version I was in with my SO so we could get on our feel. But with him throwing me out, not giving me the info so I could contact them and let them know what happened, I may not be able to get in the civilian version HUD.
Basically they help low income people get apartments.
