First, a little background. I'm in my mid-40s. I have several computer geek friends in their 20s. For over a year now, whenever I wear my aviators, they marvel at how much I resemble Hunter Thompson.
So.....
I have the fisherman's hat and loud shirts. All I need is a cigarette holder - which I obtained last week.
My wife, also a fan of the late Dr. Thompson, has said she'd like to dress as a bat.

(7,720 posts)The radio station co-sponsored an event in which we brought in Hunter Thompson to be the featured speaker. Me and a couple of other guys from the station got to go out to the airport and pick him up. We had rented a limo for the pickup so we got to ride in the limo with him to his hotel and then again from the hotel to the school.
I didn't really know what to expect, but he actually seemed to like having a one on one conversation with us. He asked us about the radio station and then what else we liked to do. I mentioned trap shooting (I was in a league at the time) and he then went on and on about his guns. I think the other guys with me would have rather talked about smoking dope.

(36,416 posts)and the event was quit possibly the catalyst for Thompson leaving San Francisco.
A famous Thompson escapade happened at the Lincoln Park golf course in San Francisco on a early Sunday morning. Thompson, two, three, sheets to the wind, parked his caddy on Clement street that paralleled a fairway, opened the trunk, remove his shotgun, and well....

My eerie hunch was right. The crazy bugger picked up on the fourth ring, and I felt my heart racing. "Hot damn!" I thought. "This is how empires are built." Late? I know not late.
Genius round the world stands hand in hand, and one shock of recognition runs the whole circle round.
Herman Melville said that in the winter of 1914, and Murray is keenly aware of it. Only a madman would call a legend of Bill Murray's stature at 3:33 a.m. for no good reason at all. It would be a career-ending move, and also profoundly rude.
But my reason was better than good ...
