The "twerking" one, I totally lost it!

And my talking parrot (opera fan) loved it, too!

Still 20 minutes or so until it airs on the Left Coast. I'm getting the Cheetos and Merlot ready.

We have sung together many times and started our careers at the same time. One of the very nicest people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing.

a production of Magic Flute at Virginia Opera . It was just after her Met audition win around '89 ??? (guessing) She and I kept in touch on occasion during my Met days. Lot's of stories (None I can repeat here), Always a good friend not only to me but everyone. She is the kind of wonderful person you would always wish would be as famous as she has become. Wish I could say more but it would out me and that's not a good idea.

their public personas. It's so nice that she's one of the ones who is at least as cool as her stage persona suggests!

Lucky, lucky you to have such a wonderful and talented friend!! Major envy!

There are more of those than its opposite. But there were a few who were such friends and so down to earth. Placido Domingo is one: he always remembers the names of the people he's met. Elisabeth Söderström and her husband Sverker took me under their wing in Stockholm early in my career. They were also of the most human and unselfish kind.

Memories...

Only THE premier opera singer in the world. My absolute favorite aria sung by her: "O Mio Babino Caro."

No one ever sang it better. I could never help but weep during the final scene trio/duet in a Met production she sand with another old buddy, Susan Graham. It could not have been better sung... ever. Truly, to die and go to heaven would be a letdown after that.
