2. When I started on my comp sci degree in college they had terminals similar to these.

They were hooked into the college mainframe. We would type in and run Fortran programs and it would type out the results. This was in my freshman year. The next year some wealthy individual gave them a grant and we had DOS machines. Each had two 5 1/4" floppy drives; one for the software and one for the data.

Eventually we also had one machine that had an actual hard drive! If you had a special project and the permission of the head of the math department you could get some time on it.

That's still not happening. Children and teens have access to vast amounts of data in the palm of their hands and they still don't learn a damn thing.

If that Mod 33 decides to start printing at 6 am, there's no fucking way you'll sleep through it. Trust me on this, kids: there is a reason for the curtain between his and his wife's beds.
