(3,864 posts)eg. Jon stewart, someone else on tv,
3 friends of mine who don't even own a tv...
so I decided to watch it to see what is such a big deal.
I can't watch more than a few minutes. I don't get it.
different strokes for diff. folks, yeah I get that.
I just wonder if anyone could tell me briefly, and civilly, what is the attraction to them.
i'm curious.

(9,213 posts)The acting is pretty incredible and the morality aspect is interesting.

(60,010 posts)It is not so much the surface story line of meth making, as it is the rich character development, lots of attention to details,
even including the colors and hues each character wears over time. And the music is carefully selected.
The first couple seasons were darkly humorous at times.
Exceptional acting, at times very subtle, overall awesome.
And a fun melange of characters who come and go thru out the series.
Plus, it would be worth watching all over again, even tho the fate of the main character is now known.
As a rule, I give a series 3-4 episodes to grab me. This one grabbed me by episode 2.

(3,864 posts)there was a woman I saw, have no idea of her character name/real name, but she is an exceptional actress.
well i'll pass, but glad people are enjoying it.
music is important. One thing I like about Bones is the music.

(29,322 posts)I couldn't imagine it being interesting w/ no idea what's going on. The best way to watch the show is to start w/ the pilot IMO.
I think episodes #13 & #14 were the best of the season but those episodes would be really uninteresting with no prior knowledge of the plot.

(53,235 posts)The ending was typical Hollywood--justice served. It was fine, but I would have preferred a more downbeat ending, at least to see Walt try his own product. But the ending didn't matter anyway. The character development, artful cinematography, great scoring, and fun plot with all its twists and turns were what made the series.
Who didn't have a soft spot for Jesse? Who didn't love watching Mike and Gus? Who wasn't fascinated with the Skyler-Walt dynamics? Who didn't love Saul, the bus bench lawyer? Who wasn't terrified by Tuco? Who didn't want to hang out with Badger and Skinny Pete? And who didn't love every second Walt was on the screen? When would he harden? When would he soften?
It was a fun series, well done and atypical. None of the action-action-action crap of other series. None of the stupid snark of other series. None of the two-dimensional characters of other series. Only the finale was American. The rest of the series was better than the usual American fare.

(5,317 posts)Definitely the best episode of the series by far. There were somewhat I thought were logical assumptions I have made that would play out. I was way off.

(18,705 posts)That was fun.
The two people I really hate are the Sky's sister and husband.
You would think they would have been grateful, just little.
Hank was a ass.
Gravitycollapse
(8,155 posts)Sure, he had his problems, but he looked death in the face and told it to fuck off.
texanwitch
(18,705 posts)Hank wouldn't have been there if it wasn't for Walt and Sky's help.
He would have been in wheelchair.
Hank should have let Walt go, where was Walt going.
Gravitycollapse
(8,155 posts)He doesn't owe them anything, as far as I'm concerned.
To me, Walt was a murderous bastard and got exactly what was coming. He turned himself into a really truly evil character.

(18,705 posts)To me Hank was the same as Walt.
Both had the same mindset.
Go for broke.
Hank did beat somebody up, put them in the hospital.
Hank wasn't the nicest guy in town either.
Walt wasn't a good guy to make the meth, but he did try to stop what happened at the end.
To me Walt was more about family then Hank.
Look what happened to Walt's money.
I really didn't like Hank from the the beginning.
Sometimes rules need to be a little bent.

(5,317 posts)The pushy jackass "do what I say and I'll do what I want" cop type. Some of his investigation methods were illegal, like GPSing Gus's car. Which he forced Walt to do thinking Walt was still the really nice guy and that was way out of his comfort zone.
He also made a lot of snide jokes towards Junior. Then there was the incident where he yelled at Marie to go back to the grocery store to he could finish his porno without her knowing.
I would have to say Junior was the best person on the show. But I thought it was Sky that demanded Walt help pay for the bills because she knew his actions somehow had a role in what happened.
texanwitch
(18,705 posts)She kept bringing the bills for her sister to pay.
At the end she was as nasty as Hank toward Walt and her sister.
Junior was a good kid.
Poor Sky was having a breakdown, big time.

(2,286 posts)That it was directly because of Walts activities that they needed help in the first place
texanwitch
(18,705 posts)Hank was still a bad cop, beating up Jesse.
I don't understand why Jesse let it go.
Except for Walt Junior and the Baby they were all into this deep.
JonLP24
(29,322 posts)Without giving too much away but the two things--what he done and what he was willing to happen to Jesse are the type of things that cops I don't like do. Also he punched Walt too. I don't care what anyone's done, I don't approve of LE beating people up and willing to sacrifice lives to catch the guilty.
On edit - Junior & Holly were innocent characters too.
