broke a damn tooth last night

i had a pretty large cavity filled in that molar about 12 years ago and a chunk of the tooth came off while i was eating popcorn.

i'm not in any pain, i just keep fiddling at it because it feels weird.

this will be my first crown and i'm a bit apprehensive about what all it is going to entail. i'm not asking the googles because gods know what kind of pictures will pop up, so i guess it will be an adventure

this one has been sensitive for some time now anyway and i knew the crown was coming eventually, i was just hoping it wouldn't be this soon.

i'm very grateful that i have good dental coverage.

and you will probably have a little sensitivity there for a day or two. I have two crowns and not a problem with either. Good luck .

i'm going to try to remember my discman to keep me company. i've been lucky to avoid a lot of major dental work, i'm a bit irritated by this, but nothing i can do.

Same deal like you and got into my dentist on an emergency appt. the day before Thanksgiving, as that's when it happened.

It hurt, got worse that night so popped some advil which helped a tiny bit.

The next day I was fine and was able to chow down.

I grind my teeth at night so my dentist wants me to get a guard, which I'm considering as it will save us money and me having to go through that again.

The only problem is I probably won't even wear it, which I have no explanation for.

had top and bottom molds after my braces came off and gave up wearing them after a year or so, so my teeth have shifted back some.

part of me just wants to wait until friday to get it fixed so i don't have to burn my last paid day off rather than go to work afterwards, but i know that's probably not the best idea.

i'm pretty tolerant of pain, but i'll probably ask for a few pain killers just so i can have an emergency stash.

Occasionally you spit it during the night but you'll find it near your pillow.

while eating a pork rind. No pain either. The only pain was in the wallet when I had to get a crown. You will not feel any physical pain as the dentist will numb the tooth and you will not feel a thing.

they'll be fine with $20 a month until it's paid off, i'd rather this not go on the credit card.

and I've ignored. Holding breath. Have a fair amount of dental work that should be done, but can't deal with it at the moment. Waiting for the pain.

Have had crowns, was time consuming and expensive, as I recall, but not painful.

Good luck to both of us, fizz!

The same thing happened to me 6 months ago, while I was eating a steak dinner. In my case, it did hurt quite a bit. Needless to say, it was not a pleasant experience!

this is more of an inconvenience than anything else. i was worried that they'd have to do a root canal with the crown, but my dad said that isn't likely, so that set my mind at ease a bit.

It was a molar that had been missing a filling for years. I had bad experiences with dentists as a child and vowed I'd never see a dentist when I grew up. I kept that vow until the tooth broke while I was eating a pork chop. When I realized I was chewing on my own tooth (as pork isn't usually crunchy) I lost my appetite and thew out the rest of the dinner. I don't recall any pain when it broke. Root canal and crown followed soon after. The crown lasted for a long time.
