No kids, so school closings not an issue, BUT,

if I hear busses are not running, know it's a good day to stay off the roads.

so I just bring in extra firewood and cozy up.

first thing in the morning and last thing at night. It can get ugly in a hurry in these parts. I've just sorted out my winter boots and gloves, getting ready.

here in North Georgia, all schools shut down, as do a lot of businesses. And all the grocery store shelves are stripped of bread and milk.

But it's good to know if a lot of snow is coming in so you can be ready to shovel.

I have honestly seen school canceled because the forecast called for a possibility of snow. If the roads get even a little bit slippery, it's dangerous to be out because most drivers don't have much experience driving in those conditions and they are a real hazard out on the road.

there are always a lot of accidents here in Oswego County during the first storm(s) f the year because the snow hits the warm roads, melts, then re-freezes into black ice.

Dweebie winters here for a good 10 years. We had a little more snow last year.

The Old Farmers Almanac says this is going to be a cold and snowy winter. And I tried to make a link here in the lounge to the Wooly Worm report but I doubt I got any replies. My next door neighbor is a local tv weatherman. I told him and he blew me off saying he uses scientific methods. So I said bite me. No, I didn't. But for heck sakes, he cudda made a little feature/interest story, to inform the believers.....of the Wooly worms.

This year they saw "spoons" which is supposed to indicate lots of snow. We'll see.

I've been preparing my yard for heavy snow by trimming off the bushes, flush across the top, so the snow will fall through them, and not make a nest, and break the limbs.

The schools here used to robo-call us when there was a closing. By now, they probably just post it on the school's website.

probably close to the lake- probably west side of Cleveland. The east side gets hammered too much. I will buy the best snow blower I can get. I manually shoveled more than I care to remember.
