(21,020 posts)just about everything is all about noise these days.
Toys. TV shows. Commercials. Even much of the music is noisy and obnoxious.
I have a sensory processing problem, and noise can actually be painful.
Sometimes when I'm watching football I turn the sound off so I don't have to hear the idiot comments (mostly by the Dumb and Dumber Twins, Simms and Nantz).
But yeah...kids' toys seem to be turning into objects from hell.
I remember my toys not making much noise at all...Slinky...hula hoop...Lincoln Logs...Teddy Bears and dolls...board games...crayons and coloring books.

(8,646 posts)my ex would declare he was throwing it 'in the burn pile'. He hid them usually. I just learned to block it all out.
I agree - too many loud toys! Some had volume controls and for that I was grateful.
Now that my kids are older - it's not the toys that are loud, it's the kids. Too bad there's no volume control on the kids.

(32,139 posts)When I remember having a toy train, it was usually playing a part in some elaborate and very serious adventure, like helping my herd of toy ponies escape the evil trader's compound where they were being held captive.
It would have been EXTREMELY annoying if the train had started playing circus music or chirped "Going to the station now! It's a happy, happy day!" or some other cheerful blather right in the middle of that dangerous escape.
And ESPECIALLY annoying if it blurted out the same cheerful, idiotic things every single time.
