Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI had left a bedspread enclosed in a plastic bag in the attic. Took it down yesterday
and a sizable portion of the bedspread is stained with brown, as if it had been scorched.
Could this have happened just from the heat in the attic? Anyone else ever see this?
More important, is there anything I can do to fix this?

Yes, but if valuable or "sentimental", take it to a very reputable professional cleaner...

One word, sort of, OxyClean. I use it on old quilts and it works better than anything else in ....

so it may be stained from being damp.
If the comforter is machine washable, try using some of that Oxy Clean stuff on the stain.

It may not be washable or it may be an heirloom. If that is the case then maybe it would be good to look into 'fabric restorers' in the yellow pages.
