does that mean I spend too much time here?

But seriously, I think the recent changes by Admin have cut down on juries, in general.

of course I just made that up. I have no idea how many times I was in the majority.

But it would be an interesting additional statistic.

Where's META when I need it?

Hi, I'm obviously new at DU and I am wondering how one is notified if they are selected for a jury, will I receive a PM? What happens if I am selected but don't see it in time to serve? Just trying to figure out how things work here, thanks in advance for any helpful replies.

A large block will appear that will indicate you have been selected to serve. The software is designed so that the notices should only appear when you reload or refresh forums, or moving between forums, such as going from the Lounge to General Discussion.

BTW, Welcome to DU!

If you take too long to respond, the system will cancel your summons and move on to someone else. It's happened to me several times

I had my preference set to "Unwilling" for a while when we moved into DU3.

After a decade of judging people's posts, I needed the opportunity to not do it for a while.

you've gotten in the previous 90 days. So, the likelihood of being on a jury can decline to 0% even if you haven't set your willingness to 'No.' That chance of being selected is shown on your profile page...

20 or more posts in the last 90 days: +20

4 posts hidden in 90 days: -80

I didn't remember having four posts hidden in the last 90 days. 50 days since the last hidden post, though I guess 50 days from the first one will gain 20 point.

Weird.

The other big change is that, starting in late December, anyone who has 5 or more hidden posts showing on their transparency page (i.e., hidden in the preceding 90 days) will be prevented from posting until enough hidden posts expire to bring the number back below 5.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1013&pid=2863

So anyone who has racked up 5 hides since Sept 25 is going to temporarily drop out of sight around Dec 23...

I have a life outside of DU. I don't make a ton of money. So on the good juries I sometimes scalp my jury ticket to put gas in the car. Is that wrong?
