somebody may have had it as a calf and played with it before releasing and now it is starting to show aggression. Not good for humans or wildlife.

I had visions of his head up on that youngster's wall.

What fun! If he'd really wanted to hurt him, he could have easily with those front hooves. They're deadly.

...but an elk is going to interpret that lowering the head as an invitation to fight. That guy is lucky the critter didn't hurl itself at him full tilt and crack his skull.

I would have taken my hat off and smacked the elk across the nose. Those hooves and antlers, if landed in the right place, are dangerous.

in hopes that she could encourage a nearby bear to lick them and so get a nice heirloom photo: killjoy Mr Ranger intervened to prevent further development of this project

In a nearby campground, on another visit, I found a young father calmly watching his tiny child toddle towards a deer that was only a few arms-lengths away -- but the at least the father quickly retrieved the child when I pointed out deer can inflict real damage with their hooves
