I need to get a gift for someone who loves to pamper herself with expensive face goo. Any recommendations?

(12,649 posts)Or better yet - go to a good, reputable day spa near the city or county court-house or in the business district and see what they carry in their lobbies.
The day spa I ask my relatives to send me a gift certificate for (birthday or christmas) specializes in pampering lawyers and businesswomen during the working day, so they have some really good quality 100% natural "product" in their lobby for sale - the same stuff they use for the high-powered working women who need to look good and refreshed for their jobs. Since they are nice ladies who are always looking for customers for their spa, they'll actually try to help out with skin type questions and make suggestions.
Or give her a gift certificate for an hour at that day spa. Massage and skin treatment.
Honestly, I'd rather get that over any high priced gifted lotions that might cause a rash, get knocked into the sink, or that the grand-baby can get ahold of and smoosh out all over the bathroom, or might freak my cats out when I wear it. (all of above have happened at various times)
Especially since as I said before, the nice ladies who work there are very helpful if you've got an interest in the product they used on you.

(37,999 posts)As for my personal preference, I just make sure my moisturizer contains squalane, the vegan alternative to squalene - which is the closest thing to sebum. Luckily, I have found moisturizer that contains squalane but it's a cheapo brand and probably would not impress your friend.
Instead, you might buy her a bottle of the stuff and tell her to add twenty or so drops to any face cream:

Or try Josie Maran's argan oil products:

Or, if you want to spend a freaking fortune, try Rodin Olio Lusso -- definitely a cult favorite, very much an in-the-know, socialite, model, etc. series of products:

(5,580 posts)They evaluate the skin.type, structure etc and can recommend products and even make up that suits and highlights. Its a pretty good service, there are even online ways via webcam to do these.
