Does anyone here own an inversion table? Does it really help with lower back pain?

Hubby has herniated discs in lower back and nothing seems to help for very long. It seems to me that taking pressure off the discs would help and we are trying to avoid surgery.

1. Yes I have one. I've had it for about 10 years now.

Wished I had it before my first back surgery. I love the damn thing! Trust me, it will take the pressure off his discs and he
will feel much better!

I only use mine now when I get down in the back and I'm all bent over. A few minutes hanging upside down and I'm straight as an arrow!

If you decide to buy one, get one with a long handle that releases and tightens the cusps that hold your ankles in.

The price range for these things is puzzling to me but I am beginning my research. It's his Christmas present and as soon as I can get one he will have it. Not waiting to wrap it! Christmas gift of a painfree back: priceless! I don't plan on spending $800 for one (don't have it) but I figure that $200 - 300 will get one that does the trick. Seeing him painfree is all the Christmas present I need!

5. My 90 year old dad turned me on to inversion!

Went into his house one day and I caught him hanging upside down. I laughed at him and he convinced me to give it a try.
I immediately started to feel better. When I got back home I went on the internet and did a little research and found the one I wanted for less than $200.00 with free shipping. So I ordered it!

My dad had a Sears one and paid less than $100.00 for his, but it didn't have the long handle to release your ankles. Depending on how heavy your man is, (300 pds and above) you might want to make sure you get one that will handle his weight.

Here is the one I got!

4. I used to sell them in the gym equipment department at Sears.

The answer is "It depends."

They work like a charm for some people (like B Calm above) and for other people (like my youngest brother) they do nothing. It really depends on how much of your pain is due to compression versus other causes related to a bad disc or other sources of back pain.

My advice since you're not wrapping the table if you buy one for Christmas in order to gift it to your husband immediately is to take your husband to the showroom of the retailer, any reputable seller (and for some reason they're frequently sold by retailers of gym equipment) is going to allow him to try out the equipment and demonstrate proper usage; he'll know instantly if it works for him. It's that fast, relief starts immediately and increases with time.

I have one myself but they don't live close enough to use it regularly.

Obviously we both found it helpful but strongly agree with the comment that it depends on what the problem is. My problem is simple arthritis; I have exercises to do, and if I keep up with the exercises and don't do anything stupid I don't have issues. The inversion table is nice for those times when I break the rules and end up in pain. The inversion table gives some instant relief when otherwise it would take a few days or more for the issue to resolve.

Definitely going to see if I can get him a trial run at one of these in the next few days to see if he likes it. It seems like inversion is very popular and very helpful. He would be so thrilled to be able to alleviate the pain!

and I love my table. I use it 2-3 times per week, along with an anti-inflammatory and occasionally ice and heat .. I'm trying to stay away from surgery for as long as possible. It seems to be helping with the spasms, I've noticed they're not as frequent since I've started with it. But, each persons symptoms are unique and surgery may be the better option, depending on what the scans show and how severe the pain is. Best of luck to your hubby, back pain is a tough thing to live with.
