Do you remember that chocolate experiment we discussed a month ago? Well, I tried it today.

Will is apologizing to the rest of the bar for me...

"Poor soul, the centre of my sinful earth..."

Whew! Porter packs quite a kick!

I had a couple of shots of Ouzo, and a shot of vodka to help it along...

In case you haven't figured it out by now, I'm an affectionate drunk.

Not creepy, clingy drunk; the kind where apologies circulate at every subsequent family gathering. Just the cute kind... (I hope...)

I got called on the carpet for not doing a physical for a patient.

So many factors...

1. He was a new patient. How can any provider do a full physical on a brand new patient? Without an establishing visit? Without reviewing prior records? Without enough time (I was allotted 15 minutes.)

2. He complained to management, who told me to do a full-up physical in the allotted 15 minutes.

3. He had previously undiagnosed high blood pressure, and refused a further workup to assess his cardiovascular risks.

4. He was 73, and had never had a screening colonoscopy. When I recommended a fecal occult blood test, prior to a screening procedure, he declined, saying he didn't need one.

5. SO: if he wasn't going to follow sound medical advice, why the hell did he walk in the door in the first place? Huh? If he was going to demand a physical exam, a logical person would assume he would follow the medical advice from any findings derived therefrom...

Anyway, I'm pissed because I got reprimanded for being a good medical provider...

I mean, why did he come in, if he had already decided to not follow your suggestions?

He must have had mixed feelings about everything.

You did your best.

His life was gentle; and the elements
So mixed in him, that Nature might stand up,
And say to all the world, THIS WAS A MAN!
