(27,247 posts)but for sheer joy at seeing two antagonists going at each other, nothing beat the Bugs- Yosemite Sam rivalry, I think.

(27,247 posts)In 1st grade or so, I asked another kid on the playground what his name was, and he said "Yahnt". Like the goofy 1st grader I was, I instinctively said "Yahnt-ah-ahh", and he reached back and slugged me.

(27,247 posts)One was Junior, the son of Widow Hen, who was a super genius and always got the best of Foghorn. The other was Henery Hawk, a pint-sized chickenhawk who was always trying to eat Foghorn.

Now, there is another reason I admire Wilie...with a special feeling...
I once met for a very few moments, his creator..
Chuck Jones at a presentation of some of his cartoon art. Couldn't have been for more than one minute, but for that moment, I was in the presence of greatness......it was in 1991. Still got his autograph from that moment.................
I wonder how many people he and his fellow artists and directors at Warner Bros made laugh?

Oh, and Tom and Jerry.

(38,414 posts)We had cartoon shows at the local movie theaters.
25 cartoons for 25 cents..yes indeed.
Most were Warners and we sat there and watched for about 2 and half hours straight, no commercials, one right after another.
On the big movie screen..
We didn't think it was anything special. Now I know it really was..

Bugs Bunny was by far the most popular cartoon at my hometown theater.

(38,414 posts)Some people have never seen a 7 minute cartoon on large screen. Bugs and Daffy or
Wiley and Roadrunner ..
I remember feeling so sorry for Elmer Fudd...He never seems to get the rabbit.
These toons really helped me to learn to laugh..Oh, I have a collection of about 1000 on disc, and tape. Many of the same ones I saw many years ago.
............Be very quiet...I am hunting rabbit ....shhhhhhhh......

All those bully characters hiding behind sweet faces and hurting cats bothered me...
But Bugs was great....

(17,183 posts)Roadrunner and Wile E. After all, the whole series was based on their conflict.
Let's not forget Snoopy and the Red Baron, though.
