The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsAre house painters weird?
Just had the second and third floor of our house painted.
The guy we hired, who we had used before, did a pretty good job: Reasonable price, mostly clean worker (except for the last day when he left two bathtubs and a toilet somewhat messy and didn't sweep up some dirt in the bathroom). There were a couple of other areas that seemed to be lacking - surface prep, filling some holes, sanding - but considering the price, not a bad job.
BUT - He never showed up when he said he was going to - always with a "good" excuse. He flipped between Mr. Nice and Mr. Weird at least four times a day. He complained about other clients, especially the last one and a guy he worked for a year ago. He asked several times for a "good review" on Yelp, Angie's List, Google +, etc., to counter a couple of bad reviews.
DISCLAIMER - My dad was a house painter and he was kind of weird.

Non-precise lines drive me bonkers. *L*

(17,339 posts)Not a straight ceiling or wall line in the place. Though every time we do any renovation, that changes.

The sloppy work of the last paint-job (probably 20 yrs before) drove me nuts... but i wasn't allowed to do anything about it. *L*
