Our small police force of 2 has their roughest times when deer hunters descend on the area in vast numbers. A lot of them get rip roaring drunk and want to fight anybody they can. Best friend, stranger, doesn't matter. They just wanna fight.
Our two guys have an easier time otherwise, even on weekends. All the bars are in the county area, and the sheriff's deputies are loath to ask for help. But deer season is open season.
Reminds me of a small town I lived near in California for 14 years. Every time dove season opened, often drunk guys would descend on that small town and start shooting at anything that moved in people's backyards. Most lots were 1/4 acre and the city slickers thought they were out in the country. The more beers they consumed, the fiercer their convictions. We had to run off a few of them on the outlying ranches, but for some reason the townies got it worse. I guess that's because where the bars were. The town was just an intersection at 2 highways, and bars almost outnumbered houses.
