When one man found a small squirrel freezing in the cold, he knew he just couldnt let him stay out in the elements on his own. So, he scooped the little guy up, took him home and took part in the most adorable recovery process the Internet has ever seen. (Seriously, try to not squeal when you see these pictures.)

(5,946 posts)I once had a squirrel live with mew, it dropped in my laundry basket outside and leaped out when I was foldingthe laundry inside. I screamed, My then border collie watched - Oh look a squirrel. It lived with me for 6 weeks. I tried to catch it, I tried to set the dog on it. Nothing, I would wake up and find the squirrel curled up with the dog. A few times I would wake up and find a tail in my face. I would scream, not the best method to catch it. I got friendly traps and tired to catch it, but the squirrel would get the peanut butter and escape. I think it was so young. It drank the dog water and ate the dog food. I was very frustrated and did not want company in my house. Finally, I wrapped the cage in plastic so the squirrel could not squeeze out the sides. and put that on a blanket I heard the trap snap and ran in , surrounded it in the blanket and took it outside and let the squirrel out, I bounced happily away and climbed the big tree. Then I found it was using one drawer in my house as a toilet, I had to throw the clothes out and bleach the insides of the drawer. makes sense though, it was my heavy carved oak dresser and this baby squirrel was born in an oak tree.

He started out in a cage when he was weak but once he regained his strength and seemed to know his way around we let him out in the backyard. When we went outside he would run up my leg and climb onto my shoulder. If we were inside he would scramble up onto the kitchen door screen and watch us.
After a few months he stopped coming to us and lived out a normal squirrel's life in the trees.
