and lost my debit card. That was after dealing with fees the bank illicitly deducted from my account. So I feel like that kitty right now.
It will be better now though. Thanks.

I couldn't sleep last night and, having given up on the idea of ever getting there, jumped in the car and drove to my favorite place on the coast, got there by 7:00 am, and Millie (dog) and I took our 2 mile walk THERE instead of here.

Screw superstition-- I'm back home now safe and sound!

Lola would be jealous. Somehow walks at -10F just aren't as fun.

I'm gonna have to be thankful that we only get a little ice on the sidewalk in the shade when it drops below freezing.

I'm not sure I've ever been close to -10! Wow!

I am extra cautious. Many years ago, I had a minor accident on Friday the 13th. When I finally got to my office, I was making coffee and somehow I spilled a hot pot of coffee on myself. Luckily, I was not burned.

12. it was a strange one for me today

started with an abandoned truck at one end of the ranch, blocking the neighbor's road and turned out to belong to a somewhat distant relative that shouldn't have even been over there. Since the county sheriff was called I think maybe they finally have got the hint to stay out. "Family" that thinks they have a right to go where they want because their ancestors may have had that privilege. "Family" that you can't just come out and say fuck-off to, much as you might want to. "Family" that is stealing firewood and can't even be bothered to bring me a load of scraps as a bribe. I am pretty easy, it doesn't take much.

Meanwhile at the other end of the ranch, (actually on the next place over) - a body was found. I don't know any details but the deputy was on his way there after he dealt with the "cousin" and his out-of-gas truck.

Then I went and made a large purchase of fence materials and had to guess whether our poor old beater of a truck could haul it in one load. Relieved to now know it can still handle 1200 lbs worth of steel T posts and 8 rolls of wire (that is about a half mile of 4-strand barbed wire fence for anybody who cares).

Then I found out another local character has passed on. That along with doing my father's memorial on Sunday and the recovery of a local woman's body (someone I knew) this weekend topped off my week of deaths. Oh an I have a cow with a prolapsed uterus to deal with in the morning. yahoo.

her funeral is today, not sure I will be able to make it as we are working cattle in a little while (not exactly an early start today, heh)

another service for long time local veterinarian "Doc" Arters tomorrow. sigh.

didn't really mean that to come off as such a downer, but it was a weird day yesterday - and there was a bright moon last night to emphasize it as well. saw a good meteorite as I was running the dogs as it got dark, too.
