are missing the culture war that is being waged along the borders of DU posts.

On the thread I just clicked on, the ad at the top wanted me to "tell John Boehner to raise the minimum wage" along with a photo of a strident looking John Boehner. The ad at the side wanted me to "tell A&E to stop silencing Christians." along with a photo of one of the duck guys.

The ad at the bottom wanted me to buy more memory for my Mac, but that is a different culture war.

1. Sometimes I come to DU just to read and I don't log in.

Thus I see the ads which are based on what I've recently searched for or on articles I've read.

2. I keep getting the ads for the online games with naked women.

But it is a laugh how many hard-right adverts pop up on DU.

I donate small. I wish I could give a bit more. I really like this place.

4. I donated, not to hide

the ADs, but because I enjoy my time on DU and

want to be able to come and support our Administration and

other DUers everyday. Every chance I get during the day I log on

and get the latest news, and love reading and learning all the info I get from DU.

Please if you can, donate and keep us alive and well for years to come!

5. I wonder how much good AdBlock might do you in this case?

I've never tried surfing w/o it, because it really really works like a charm. Even on FB it keeps ads from intrusiveness.

6. Back in the Grovelbot days

I used to send $20 every now and then. Then Grovelbot went away and DU changed to a fixed donation format that was more than I could deal with.

I was also really enjoying the ads! Snorg tees kept putting up ads of gorgeous women in t-shirts and panties - I was halfway in love with the "MEH" t-shirt woman! I didn't want to lose the ads!

However, I just clicked on the "hide ads" button and saw that I can donate any amount I like, so right after I post this I am going to send $20. DU is occasionally infuriating, but never dull.
