We're under both a Flood Watch and a Winter Storm Watch for icing up to one half inch from late this afternoon into Sunday morning.

The last ice storm our region had cost more than $50 million in damages to property and trees.

I wish the temperature would drop and it came as snow rather than ice.

I certainly do not want to see the destruction and loss of power during the holidays due to an ice storm...

On edit: The Winter Storm Watch has been upgraded to an Ice Storm Warning through noon on Sunday.

Actual forecast for today is :

Clear periods and scattered blustery showers, the showers should become more isolated through the night, but winds will remain generally strong, and feeling chilly.

Chilly means its going down to 43f

We live in Oregon. At this time of year we get about 8 1/2 hours of sunlight a day. I watch every day as the light lasts a little longer.

But I still love winter and celebrate the winter solstice.

I think it's the National Cathedral where they hold a winter solstice midnight Mass; at the end the congregation howls like wolves - literally. So cool. Never got to go, but I used to listen to it broadcast live on NPR.
