I will shop for the meal tomorrow, and do some baking and food prep. The wrapping will come later.

I am glad you are in the spirit. It is fun to have family around.

My cookies are done, and in the outside freezer. We make seven kinds. I have given out plates to friends already, and there will be more for family to take home.

We started this tradition when we were first married and did not have that much. It grew, and became one of our grown children's fondest Christmas memories. We use vintage cookie cutters and old recipes. I have given my girls and my daughter-in-law identical cookie cutters that I found in resale shops, and all the recipes.

We have been doing this for thirty-five years. I don't see how I can ever stop the tradition. People expect it.

They are all up in NYS. I shipped presents to them to save a bit on extra shipping costs.

I sent my middle sister's present to my niece, there was no shipping for it, She brought it back home from college.

Sent my younger sister's present to my middle sister. I bought one sister a three part slow cooker. I ordered it at Target for store delivery up in NY. Didn't have to pay any shipping! (plus I have a really cool sister and niece for doing that.)

I figured I saved over a hundred dollars in shipping fees this year. I made up for the saving by getting presents for my family that I think they will really enjoy.

Well -- In my middle sisters case (and her husband and their son) I REALLY need it to chill down (as in get damn winter bone cold!) in the Hudson Valley; We bought them a backyard Ice Skating rink! 12' x 23' REUSABLE!

Today it's in the high 50's up there, that rink might become a REALLY big bird bath...

Some years are like that.

One year, I had a baby on Dec. 21, and came home to two older kids who had flu. Some fun.

I hope your kids feel better, and you enjoy Christmas after all. Christmas is all about the younger kids and the family.

Get better, and Merry Christmas.

i just wrap them at dad's. it's easier to take everything over in shopping bags than trying to find a place to keep the wrapped presents here.

i don't have much to wrap this year, i'm not concerned about it.

Publix puts out holiday themed re-usable grocery bags every year and I try to snag enough of those before they run out. At 99 cents each, they're cheaper than most gift bags - and they are perfect for books which is what I give the most of.

This year it took me longer to peel off the price stickers and sort out the piles of books than it took to "wrap" them. Throwing the books into the appropriate bags only took a few minutes.

Not only will the recipients get their presents, they will get bags to carry them home in AND bags they can use all year round!

Parents think it's a waste of paper to go out and buy wrapping paper. Starting a few years back we tend to put our gifts in gift bags. I still like wrapping things though, so I've decided to use newspaper
