(10,418 posts)My hometown is the scooter capitol of the Midwest. A lot of people around here drive them like a ten year old on a BMX bike. That thing has a motor and can go 35mph. It's made for city traffic and you are supposed to obey all of the traffic laws that other vehicles have to follow. You're not supposed to run red lights, drive on the sidewalk, drive through yards, drive the wrong way on one way streets, and drive them drunk.

(12,132 posts)I'm not sure I love the inevitability of scooter vs. car.
but if I lived in a beach town where there were no cars I would be scootin every damn where.

Chili. With or without meat? Or with or without beans?
I prefer chili mild, with chicken or pork (not beef) and loaded with kidney beans.
Anyone who doesn't like it the same way is a big stinky-head.

(20,277 posts)You never know. There could be hay to deal with, and cornflakes make a nice snack.

(585 posts)I feel like I missed a critical part of DU history.

(43,049 posts)somebody posted about fried chicken with a cornflake crust and a few went insane over the idea. It's the kind of thing that happens a lot when there's nothing else going on. But that one was classic. And no one seemed embarrassed about taking a stand one way or the other.
Besides the few arguing that the world was soon to come to an end if chicken parts ever met a cornflake, or if they never met a cornflake, quite a few had to enter the discussion with the observation that real problems, like war, global warming, and such were out there still to be solved.
And, as someone mentioned below, there was a similar meltdown over the Olive Garden-- is it really Italian? Is it really food? Does any of it matter?
There have been others.
