Netflix Streaming sucks!

"Santa" brought a new game system to my son for Christmas, so I decided to give Netflix streaming a shot during the free trial period, and I have to say it really sucks. I cannot find one movie I'm looking for. So, I will just watch the full House of Cards season and bid Netflix goodbye.

As long as subscribers re-up each month, it's just a matter of keeping their subscribers happy at whatever level they use. Not that there's a pricepoint worry for them, but they make a marginally bigger profit off the subscribers who don't view all that often.

2. If what you want are recent and/or big studio films, then yes, it sucks.

If you like obscure films, documentaries, British television and campy B-Movies, then Netflix is wonderful.

ProTIP: Amazon streaming offers virtually the same collection of titles as Netflix so, there's that.

7. They have an very good selection of little known but outstanding foreign movies.

Like you, I couldn't find many movies on Netflix when I first signed up but I gave the foreign flicks which Netflix recommended a chance and I've not been disappointed since.

Some people don't like reading subtitles but that doesn't bother me and seems to give the movies a more realistic feel. Not everyone in the world speaks perfect English.

8. Wait till you see Canadian Netflix...

We still keep a subscription to watch TV series but Netflix up here in Canada is way worse than in the US. WAY smaller selection. I'm not even looking for block busters and new films. Just about anything I can think of that I'd list as a "good" movie they don't have. Even the great selection of foreign films and docus mentioned above is very very much smaller here Hop on over to iTunes and it's there though, not I want to pay to rent or buy each film.

I have an open case going right now with Paypal regarding Netflix

Last year I signed up for streaming Netflix and, like yourself, did not find much of interest so I cancelled on Nov 3 2012. Then for Christmas last year a family member gave a years subscription which basically went to waste...again because there was nothing of interest.

That gift subscription expired at midnight last night

Today in my email I get notice that Netflix has charged my Paypal account for a months subscription

I do not recall authorizing this when I redeemed my gift subscription last year

No way to contact them except by chat or phone. I do NOT want to try to talk on the phone with someone because of hearing issues. I want to email them and not have to be tied to my computer via chat. I HATE chat. Bastards!!!

they're extremely pleasant. Most places I've had to talk with someone are pleasant.

But it's frustrating for me because I usually get someone like a young woman with a high voice who talks quickly and I have to strain to understand what she's saying.

Or I get someone who doesn't speak up. I have my headset sound level turned up as loud as it will go, but often it's still not loud enough.

There was one time I had signed up for something...I think it was Ancestry.com...and I went to cancel by email and was told, sorry, you have to call to cancel, and I wrote back that I never had to call to START my membership and I certainly would not call to CANCEL it, either. Personally I think some places that require you to call them like that are hoping to convince people to keep their memberships active.

I get real cranky when I can't hear/understand what someone is saying to me.

12. I have broadcast and Netflix and I'm happy.

Cut the cable cord a couple of years ago and have adjusted well.

Everybody has complaints about a fave not being on Netflix but if you look at what you get for $8 a month, it's pretty good.

I stream at least two tv shows or a movie a night with Netflix. They could get some better sci fi and horror movies, pick up a few more long running sitcoms, but over all, I love it.

Its pretty clear which parts he writes too. The homage to Soprano parts and the NJ dialect are clearly his touches. I am just waiting until they have him do "just when I thought I was out they dragged me back in".

I have known plenty of Norwegians and they see themselves as painfully shy and love to make fun of themselves as they do so effectively on that show.

From Episode 1 forward. It's fabulous because on the one hand, I remember it and on the other, I don't remember the individual episodes.

One thing I noticed is that, unlike most ensembles that take a few much of the 1st season getting their rhythm, the ensemble work is top notch right from the get-go.

I've been from episode 1...Shelley Long and Ted Danson play so extremely well off each other, but every single member of that cast is dead on hysterical.

I watch much more Netflix than I do cable. I find some TV series that I like (usually foreign) and can watch it without commercials while I work.

Watching Breaking Bad without the commercials was completely different than watching it on TV.

Have you seen the Scandinavian version of "Girl with a Dragon Tattoo"?

I work from home and have my laptop right next to my work PC. I run Netflix while I work. I have plowed through "Breaking Bad", "Orange is the New Black",
"Leverage", "Psych", "Burn Notice", "Lost", "How I Met Your Mother", "Sunny in Philadelphia", "Doc Martin", "Eureka", "Continuum , "Fringe", "Bones", "Longmire", "Haven" "Hart of Dixie", "The Guardian" and a host of others.

I have watched a few movies but the TV series are the greatest.

Currently working through "The Killing", "Damages", "House of Cards" and "American Horror Story".

If you want movies on demand, get a $99 Apple TV, and rent them through iTunes. Sometimes, you can just buy them for $10 and have them available forever. Rentals are $4-$6 and nearly everything is available.

But for the cost of one movie (or two rentals), Netflix gives you tons of great content. I'm just getting to see seasons 1-4 of Dexter. What a great show.

All the series I missed before, or did not watch because they were serials and I couldn't watch enough to keep up with the storyline, are available to me at my convenience.

There are some good movies there too, but movies are definitely not the best thing about Netflix.

37. You really do have to know what Netflix is for and what it's not for..

As many people have stated, no, new and recent blockbuster movies aren't going to happen. But I binged on Lost and Breaking Bad...which IMHO are two of the best shows ever. Lost is so multi-layered some folks don't get it. And Breaking Bad is just the best show in the history of television (as Ive said many times). I was at a friend's today and while she was getting ready, I was rewatching the BB pilot and it was just amazing. FYI, AMC is having a BB marathon from the first show to the last until Monday afternoon.

41. There are a lot of TV series on there, though.

The movie selection is a little sparse, especially if you are looking for the latest offerings. But it has Doctor Who (the reboot plus many of the old ones), Fringe, Bones, Top Gear (UK), all the Star Treks, Mythbusters, and many others I can't think of right now.

I also use the DVD service to get current movies or TV series that are not streaming.

I also have Hulu Plus and Amazon Prime (for now, at least). Hulu has a lot of current TV series (but you have to catch episodes soon after they air, or they disappear), plus some exclusives like Moone Boy and the Wrong Mans, which I enjoy. Do not miss "The Thick of It" if you get Hulu. It stars the great Peter Capaldi as the foul-mouthed Malcolm Tucker. I wish they could curse on American TV like that.

up another $40 for the new year (promotion expired) and since TV in general is a vast wasteland (with the exception of a few shows) we're probably going to cut the cable cord.

However, I want to be able to catch the new Sherlock when it comes on as well as The Blacklist when it comes back ... can I watch those on PBS / NBC websites after each show's first airing?

44. I run out of things to watch on Netflix in about 3 months

then drop them for another 9. I'm currently using Sony's Video Unlimited. Video Unlimited has flics that are in the theaters now. You have to pay for each title though. They even carry unrated versions that are unavailable in theaters.

Netflix is annoying with their stupid emails "you can come back at any time." Put some recent titles up and I will. I swear that 80% of their library consists of box office flops.

62. The Netflix page on Facebook used to be a hoot

because you'd get all these illiterate teenagers writing "Netflix sux," because they couldn't stream some mindless car chase flick or gross-out movie that was still in theaters.

However, it's great for older, non-blockbuster films, TV series, foreign content, and documentaries.

I'm currently watching Capote with Philip Seymour Hoffman doing a remarkable impersonation of the well-known author (I'm old enough to remember seeing him on talk shows) in the story of how In Cold Blood was written.

There are tons of British series and feature films, as well as a couple of great Swedish ones, especially "Wallander" and "Annika Bengtzon."
