I listen to 1150 AM (KTLK) often.
I turned it on this afternoon, and they had some conservatives screaming about Benghazi, and then said Sean Hannity is up next, followed by a negative Nancy Pelosi ad. What gives?

(10,419 posts)They started out as a progressive station a few years ago, then dumped Malloy, Goldman, Hartmann, Steph Miller, Rhodes in favor of Rush, Hannity & Co. And this is in the SF Bay area.
Their new web banner has a big American flag with a caption "The Patriot AM 960 - The best in conservative talk"
I've listened to them for years, but never again. Yecch.

Otherwise, you can go to this link:

And stream all of our great liberal voices.
"The Patriot"--my flabby ole lady ass! Like wing nut jingoistic would know patriotism if it bit 'em.

(21,841 posts)seriously. True American Values.
That makes our values what?
a HAVE, then you have "true American values"
if you're a "have not", then you don't represent THEIR MAINSTREAM CORE VALUES.

(1,314 posts)but I can't help but think Clear Channel has a clear agenda with these changes.
I heard they did this in several states (another was mentioned above), and I've come to find that several of the changes are similar to what happened in Los Angeles: replacing the liberal stations with right wing stations.
We need to break up Clear Channel.
Then again, I'm probably one of the few people who still turn on AM radio when in the car.
...but not after today.

Want to know how the right-wing astroturf machine works? Want to see how they use power and money to drown out the voice of the people? Want to see the motivations behind the Koch Brothers' hit man in California?
Well then, meet David Spady, "California State Director of Americans for Prosperity," the wholly owned subsidiary of Koch Brothers, Inc.

The teabagger plan is to acquire enough media, news agencies and radio, to bombard the airwaves and internet with as much Reich Wing propaganda as possible for the 2014 and 2016 elections. They did that in my state in the Walker Recall election, they outspent democrats by about 10:1.

It is not an overstatement to say that the 5 to 4 decision in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, which was handed down in January, could permanently change American democracy.

If I had more money, I could have more freedom of speech than the average, run of the mill middle class and poor person.

(1,290 posts)Just what the Los Angeles market needed, its 4th all Right Wing AM radio station. Amazing how such a progressive city is able to support all of them. (KFI, KRLA, KABC, and now KTLK!)
Hope Rush enjoys his days on the shittiest AM signal in Los Angeles. Too bad it's still the L.A King's flagship.

(25,586 posts)For a while their evening drive-time slot was occupied by an openly gay couple, and on weekends Ted motherfucking Rall had his own show! Then they decided to be All-Wingnut-All-the-Time.

(1,290 posts)There was a time when KFI and KMPC were the gold standard of major market radio.
Remember when KFWB was all news? I forgot to include that in my hall of shame. So there are now 5 stations on the AM dial in the second largest market in the country that are dedicated to RW talk...
Thank god for KNX, and KLAC.
