It was pretty cool-- it was the first time I'd ever flown over Russian territory, I think. I've flown several times off the Kamchatka coast, but this was the first time to ever look down and see Russia, especially in its snow-covered glory. Sakhalin looked like a pretty desolate place from the air-- lots of snow-covered mountains, and a few snow-covered lowlands, with a river that had all sorts of oxbow lakes along it.
