1. When our girls were little we built a snowman

That night someone took the head off and poured ketchup all over it. My girls were mortified and have never built a snowman since.

If you are considering the snowman with red food dye, make sure the snowman isn't some young child's.

4. None of those trump the one we inadvertently pulled as children.

It was me and D the year Crash was born so both of our parents were distracted. We'd had a really-sticky snow and discovered that if we rolled a snowball on the ground, it picked up more snow...so we rolled the entire back 1/2 acre and had a compressed snow boulder that was probably 8' in diameter and we could barely move. We decided we were going to see if we could get it so big that it couldn't be moved at all...which meant we needed more snow but the backyard was barren so we needed to get it to the front yard which meant we needed to roll it down the hill into the front yard. Well, we lost it about half way down the hill. It rolled the rest of the way down the hill then across the front yard were it hit the lip of a small cliff in the front yard and took off and flew an arc, barely clearing the far guardrail.

Not 10 minutes later, the State Police are knocking on the door. "Mrs. Channing, did you know your sons just caused an avalanche and nearly blocked the highway?"

My ass was never so rosey again. I might be the only 8-year-old ever barred by the threat of prosecution from playing in the snow.

To this day, there are stories from adults older than me about the day they were driving down the highway and this snow boulder went flying overhead.

5. Back in college a roomie of mine

spent all day crafting his version of a snowman. Consisted of a snowman, sitting on the 'can' waiting, elbows on its knees, with shades on, bandana on the head, a smoke on its mouth, and a can of Bud near its feet!
