Despite best efforts I have a busted pipe and am awaiting for a plumber to show up sometime. The water is shut off and there is nothing more that I can do.

(585 posts)That's something I'm really grateful I've never had to deal with.
I hate winter weather, too.

(10,952 posts)out it was not my kitchen pipes. Apparently the people who used to own the house moved the outside faucet and the pipe that went to the original site was just capped off. You guessed it, the cap popped off causing the water leak. I don't think that there was anything that I could have done to prevent it. On the bright side, it was an easy yet expensive fix. I plan on staying home tomorrow to keep an eye on my pipes.

(225 posts)underground. It was amazingly fast to fix: found the problem Sunday, excavators/plumber started digging Wednesday morning and finished Wednesday noon. $1900 down the drain, so to speak. It helps to know really honorable, expert excavators and plumber.
