Hate the cold, but hoping a good freeze will get rid of some of the insects that have

Yeah, but this time of year the snakes grow those thick, fluffy coats to keep warm.

I suspect it might take out some of the smaller ones, but they'll likely need a longer period of freezing cold to get rid of a significant number of them.

had several mild winters to enlarge their colonies. But it is also a big economical hit for the farms and fruit trees.

Apparently the snakes are pretty good about finding ways to survive cold spells.
Tonight according to the National Weather Service, it's only going to get down to about 45 F in the Everglades. The snakes will just be a bit chilly.
