Nobody In Hollywood Is Returning Frank's Calls (WARNING: Certifiably Creepy Image)

Republican messaging maven Frank Luntz wants to get into the movie business, but nobody in Hollywood seems willing to give him his big break.

At the end of a long piece in The Atlantic that details Luntz's self-loathing and despair with the American electorate, it's revealed that the man behind some of the GOP's favorite catch phrases aspires to work in "Hollywood as a consultant, but he can't get his calls returned."

He can't figure it out. He thinks it must be a partisan thing. In every other industry, he says, 90 percent of his presentations result in a contract. But in entertainment, he pitches and pitches and pitches (he wouldn't tell me which studios or shows) and things seem to go well, but then there's some excuse. Not this time. Not the right project.

Kelsey Grammar, Adam Sandler, James Earl Jones, LL Cool J, Robert Duvall, Dwayne Johnson, Bruce Willis, Sylvester Stallone....

What they are not are ethicless douche bags who brag about misleading the public. The highly successful entertainment industry, despite being a model for unsupported capitalism (unlike Luntz's old clients from the energy, finance, and defense industries that thrive only on government hand outs), has been used as a punching bag and wedge issue by Republicans for two generations. Here's a life lesson for Frank Luntz: don't go hat in hand to the guy you've been kicking to the curb your whole life.

What an asswipe.

The architect of the (2006) GOP takeover flees Washington

It's just like they have become one giant whining windbag," Frank Luntz says..."They are adrift and they are leaderless..."

Many in Washington might agree with this analysis, but Luntz is more than just any member of the establishment. In 1994, he...helped write Republican House member Newt Gingrich's Contract with America...Four years later, he advised Republicans trying to impeach Bill Clinton...

(Y)et, like other GOP stalwarts who helped usher in an era of conservative dominance, Luntz isn't happy with the results...But, in his anger and disappointment with the politics and culture of Washington, he is forgetting one thing: He, as much as anyone else, is responsible for the very mess he desperately wants to escape.

Sounds like he hasn't learned much in the past six years. This one's for you, Frank:
