I learned the hard way what it means to lead someone on...

I didn't even mean to but I did anyway. And for that I will be eternally repentant.

I feel like a really bad person.

We all have dreams of being happy. They don't always work out but unless you made promises that you honestly didn't mean at the time you both share equal responsibility for what happened.

Stop (don't start) beating yourself up.
