Co-worker came in w/ a coat that her mother was going to give to Good Will. She had told her mom it was too nice to give to Good Will and that she'd bring it in to work to see if it would fit anyone here. I'm always the first one in, and IT FITS!
I've never had a leather coat and always wanted one.
I guess sometimes it pays to be the first one in the office.

(22,000 posts)When I was living in China I had a nice coat made for myself. It is always so nice when you have something like that, especially when you want to dress up.

You got something very beautiful...for free!

(38,452 posts)at least more expensive than I've been able to pay.
This one is a tad big, but I often dress in layers, so it will be nice that I can fit a sweater or two under it (I'm wearing a tank top and 3 sweaters today!).

Anybody know?

But Salvation Army seems to do more, and is not as "for profit" as Goodwill.

(6,597 posts)It isn't the needy or poorer people who get those items. There was also an issue last year that made the news about what they pay their disabled workers. IIRC, it was under $3. an hr.

Anyway, congratulations on your new coat.
I've gotten several leather coats from Salvation Army, always a good deal.
