(475 posts)Some of the best food I've ever eaten has been in burger form. Not to bash your likes or dislikes, of course, just offering my POV.

(20,176 posts)There's this really awful "fake burger" flavoring (one that is clearly a synthetic food-lab creation, probably petrol-derivative too) that started with Boca and moved to Gimme Lean and assorted brand-name crumbles. It doesn't taste like ground beef or anything even approaching on a hamburger. It's simply the industry-standard for what faux-hamburgers will taste like...it tastes like ass.
Seriously. How could these people get soysage so right and f**k up soy ground-chuck? It's a bland umami palate, maybe some liquid smoke, tamari and salt. I can make it at home with TVP, lentil flour, seasonings and a binding agent. Some cubed vegetables if you want a more veggy flavor. Is that so hard to replicate on a larger scale?

(12,132 posts)For veggie burgers I don't eat for them to taste like hamburger. If you go in thinking it should taste like beef you're gonna be sad. That recipe Chan posted sounds awesome though - will have to investigate that.
I like stir fried tofu (make it spicy!) and I like tofu in miso soup but i haven't really explored it much further than that.
as for hamburgers, I'm a 5 Guys fan. Cheesy greasy mess and I llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllove it. I'm surprised they didn't make the list...
The best burger I've had, though, is the Fertility Burger from the now defunct Jungle Jim's. It had cream cheese and hot sauce and avocado and a crap load of other things. Had to use a fork. I wish I could remember what was on there - I think some jalapenos too...I'd make them for myself at home if I could remember it all...
oh SNAP - the power of google!
FERTILITY INFERNO
Suth'n sauce, pepper cheese, buffalo wing sauce, sliced jalapenos, cream cheese, sour cream, shredded iceberg, dills and tomato are a potent combo.
Beef 8.17 Chicken 8.81 Gardenburger 8.53
I'm gonna have to guess at whatever "suth'n sauce" is...from their menu: " our secret Suth'n 17-spice Cajun hell-fire sauce"

(24,461 posts). . . lose the mayo, ace the cheese, feed the dog the bacon, eat only half the bun, etc.
. . . but, non-stunt-food pics aside . . . sometimes I really want to just DOWN one of them sumbitches!! Granted, there are some bad ones I wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole (mainly because I don't like spice or mayo or chilies), and I wouldn't come near a Krispy Kreme burger, but doubles or sliders made right off my grill with some tomatoes, mushrooms and pickles and steak sauce . . . something gourmet like that. An "every-so-often" thing.

(21,046 posts)No Texas Cuisine??? Whataburger and wendy's are both pretty good for a not real fatty burger. Whataburger is important because Hank has those important discussions with Bobby at Whataburger.
We don't have a lot of those chains listed, in Texas. Sonic is OK if you are really really hungry.

(1,630 posts)Half ground beef and half ground bacon. I've never had it but my fiance did and said it was sooooo good but he'll never eat one again.
This place has 60+ flavors of wings that are INCREDIBLE!
