(111,940 posts)I'm having difficulty finding a good pizza place in my neighborhood also even though there are probably about ten within a half mile or so.
In_The_Wind
(72,300 posts)I totally understand where you're coming from.
At one time I enjoyed having lettuce on my sandwiches.
pipi_k
(21,020 posts)I've had dentures since 1978, so it's been an interesting journey figuring out ways of adapting to them.
I can do lettuce if it's the lower crispy part. The upper part is hopeless.
And pizza...well, my strategy for that often disgusts other people. First, I remove the top cheese/veggie layer. I eat the crust separately, then deal with the GOOD part...the cheese...last. All with my fingers.
mmmm...
I manage most things but I was half way through implants when our money ran out overnight. We were ponzied by Bernie Madoff. I'll be able to crunch on things again someday (soon,, I hope).
pipi_k
(21,020 posts)we don't really appreciate things until we have to deal with the consequences of not having them.
I was fairly young...25...when I got my dentures.
Didn't take care of my teeth.
So you have some implants? Hopefully they're lowers. Lower dentures absolutely suck pond scum.

(72,300 posts)Cashew butter taste wonderful when chewing cashews is no longer possible.
DebJ
(7,699 posts)for the exact same reasons. He eats cashews all the time and I can't, though we
both have full dentures. He had a marvelous dentist; mine was so lousy in so many
ways its too much to even talk about...

(6,154 posts)"Artisan pizza" places, whatever that means lol, often serve pizzas with a knife and fork intending you to eat them that way.
In_The_Wind
(72,300 posts)The more yummy toppings added to the pie ... the less the crust is gonna hold before collapsing.

(41,818 posts)We went to a pizza place in Glasglow. Everone was using a fork and knife for pizza. I was thinking..I would like to stand up and shout, USE YOUR HANDS!... BUT this was the UK. You probably don't do stuff like that!
Would they use a fork for Popcorn?

(41,818 posts)Deep Fried pizza? Is that even possible?
loli phabay
(5,580 posts)its a staple on a weekend in cities like glasgow, just hit a chip shop and ask for a pizza supper. then try a pudding supper. you missed a big cultural gimme.

(41,818 posts)When I was in Napoli.. they rolled pizza up like a newspaper and served it that way. But with all the ingredients on a pizza, including tomato sauce.. how do you deep fry it? Boggles my mind.
loli phabay
(5,580 posts)yuiyoshida
(41,818 posts)That's different. sugoi! ...I wonder what kind of batter they use?? Maybe the same kind of batter they use for fish ... (fish and chips? ) Kinda reminds me of takoyaki!
loli phabay
(5,580 posts)now i am going to have to fire up my fryer.
yuiyoshida
(41,818 posts)That's a great idea.
Maybe some day you can try takoyaki. It's wonderful!

(27,247 posts)I usually buy it in the local supermarket-- a bag of 20 for 199 yen.
yuiyoshida
(41,818 posts)maybe a store over there sells it. I only see it during our festivals.. oishii ne!
Art_from_Ark
(27,247 posts)yuiyoshida
(41,818 posts)How do those taste?
Art_from_Ark
(27,247 posts)The prepackaged takoyaki usually come frozen, so they have to be thawed completely at first, then heated just right, preferably in a takoyaki grill. Unfortunately, I don't have such a grill so mine are never as good as the street vendors' wares.
At any rate, here is a recipe for home-made takoyaki (in Japanese)

Art_from_Ark
(27,247 posts)They were on sale, six for 100 yen. The prepackaged creme puffs tasted better than the prepackaged takoyaki
yuiyoshida
(41,818 posts)Isn't there a Beardspapa near you?
Art_from_Ark
(27,247 posts)and found out that there actually is a shop that is fairly close to my house. It's in a shopping center that's not in my usual sphere of activities, but I'll have to check it out one of these days.

(5,431 posts)At Pizza Uno, you kind of have to use cutlery.
With a New York style pizza, it's not necessary, as well as sacrilegious.

(7,699 posts)but how in the world can one feel full eating such a thin thing with nothing
really on it in the way of veggies or meat or anything...just bread and cheese?
It's okay for me as an h'ordouevre (however do you spell that!)
but it doesn't pass for a meal. More than one slice and my stomach
revolts against the grease!

(12,591 posts)I eat pizza this way." I then picked up a piece of pizza and took a bite. That made everyone relax and eat their pizza the way most folks do - with their hands. Afterwards, people told me they were so glad that I did that - so they could.

(4,465 posts)If it's too hot just blow on it or wait while it cools down some, if it's too stuffed then just use two hands.
