Someone was singing those songs but it wasn't the Beach Boys

Sorry, watching the video again it's very apparant that the Beach Boys were not the ones singing when they finally took the stage. There is no way those men have maintained that high of a vocal range after 50 years - especially since some of them have probably done some hard core partying over that time period.

Back in 2007, when Led Zeppelin did the reunion concert, Jimmy Page had to rewrite all the LZ songs in a lower range to accomadate the changes in Robert Plant's voice. And even the Glen Campbell tribute, when Glen sang his voice came out in a lower range (I do believe Glen did sing).

As far as I'm concerned whomever was singing for the Beach Boys it wasn't them.

Are you saying the Beach Boys are so bad they have to lip sync their own songs?

probably can't hit that really high tenor range anymore. You listen to the song that the Beach Boys sang last night ("Wouldn't it Be Nice&quot and you listen to it on Pet Sounds - it sounds identical.

died... especially Dennis

But, I give them credit for trying...

If you saw the much anticipated Pink Floyd reunion for Live 8 in 2005--which I enjoyed tremendously-- clearly David Gilmour struggles to get out some of those notes. So, sure, I think that is to be expected.

Even my singing voice - I can't hit the notes I use to be able to hit.

It's not a bad thing and perhaps if they didn't do the Glen Campbell tribute it wouldn't have been as noticable. But Glen did sound like he sang the song although I suspect they had a backup just incase he had issues.

lots of recent vintage videos of Brian singing live to compare

It's not the Beach Boys without any Wilsons in it though

They have , as someone mentione about LZ, lowered the key a bit. But they are all completely off drugs and working with vocal coaches.

Saw Brian's solo tour and it was awesome. Voice gets a little thready at the high notes. but seriously, that was them. With generous young backup.
