4. A relative rarity today

You used to see that all the time, but they really don't like doing that on with trucks that have condo sleepers because they're afraid of knocking the roofs off or fucking up the back axle, which has ALL the weight of the truck sitting on it. (This from a Freightliner transport driver I met in a truck stop.) Now they prefer to tow them flat - pull both driveshafts, hook the air from the tow rig to the towed one, and head on down the road.

Hooked up like that and the first driver didn't know he was hauling them? HITCHHIKERS!!!!

Driving them wasn't the hard part, although they are quite a bit more tricky than a regular tractor-trailer. Try backing those bastards up!

The hard part was taking them apart. That's right. Usually, it is the truck driver's responsibility to take those down. That job can kick your ass, especially when it's very hot or very cold. It requires that you have some sense about you as well. You can easily get killed on that job if you do something dumb.
