It was recently discovered that my dad has colon cancer. Further scans revealed a tumor in his adrenal gland and maybe his lung. The good news is it's localized to those areas, and he still feels good except for bowel problems. The doctor is optimistic that the cancer is treatable. But he will need chemo and surgery. Any thoughts and prayers are appreciated.

(6,286 posts)You only get one dad. Mine just went through colon cancer 8 months ago and thankfully made a full recovery. Do you live close enough to spend a lot time with him during this ordeal? I'll be thinking about you and him.

(6,286 posts)even though he left unceremoniously when I was 2. I must confess though, that even though we repaired the damaged bond and it was nice and strong, I was amazed at how much better our friendship got once he made it through some rough patches in the surgery and recovery. I realized that love truly is limitless and there is always a potential for increased capacity. Your dad is so fortunate to have you with at his side during this time and I hope something good arises out of this bad situation you two are going through.

(65,173 posts)That is great. My dad is only 67 - not that old - so perhaps his age will help also. Thanks again
