Walmart story:

I hate the place, but there are a few necessities that are only available there in my small town.

While there I took a look at laptops, just to see features and prices.
My old Compaq with Windows XP is about to give up the ghost.

There was a 60/70s-something woman talking to a clerk (Excuse me...ASSOCIATE.) about a gadget (Roku?) to stream the internet on her TV.

(Remember, I'm in Alabama.)
"Do you have to have a computer? I don't have a computer."
"Well, you have to be on the internet."
"Can I get on the internet without a computer?"
"I dunno. Maybe you can, but I think you need a computer."
"Can I get local channels with it? I don't want it if I can't get local channels."
"I dunno."
"I've got cable right now with about 50 channels, which is way more than I watch. I'm trying to find something cheaper."

At this point I spoke up.
"Lady, you'd have to have a computer so you could get on the internet."
"Oh. Well, I don't want a computer. I'm just looking for a way to get my TV channels without having to pay for cables. And I have to get local channels and Jimmy Swagart."

It was at that point that I knew that not only could I NOT help her, I also did not WANT to help her.

1. She could always try praying for free TV access...

Then it will become apparent whether providing her with Jimmy Swaggert is aiding and abetting the enemy, or divine intervention.

BUT believe today's modern TV's can receive (and send) data through a wireless modem that is built into many 'Smart TVs' ... they have apps loaded in the tv to do what is necessary to talk to websites like YouTube, and download content through the wireless ...

Not sure if Jimmy 'The Miserable John' is online yet ... ehem ....

Write a nice looong letter to him to ask him about it. And when she gets a reply she can write another loong letter back...and so on. That way she and Jimmy (or most likely his staff) can be pen pals!

There are a lot of religious channels on Roku since they are so easy to develop. But she would need internet and a computer to really use it.

If you GAVE her a computer she would use it to roll out biscuit dough on, or for a doorstop.
