Rant and heartbreak in a poem.

Written for someone who likes this kind of rhyme and rhythm.

Because I deeply treasure
Every day I spend by your side
I have done my best to pleasure,
To insure your life has leisure,
To keep body and soul together,
Since the day I became your bride

Our life was an adventure
‘Til a torrent of tears I cried!
You weren’t just ‘under the weather’ (indeed you could have died)
So I have taken every measure
To give us while on this plane together
A long and wonderful ride

Of all the things that you must watch
To keep you here with me
The most important of these
Are these simple little three:
What you eat, when you eat, how much you eat at all
To do this you must learn to live
By the clock face on the wall

But time is the one thing you cannot face
You want to run away
To get lost in a nether world without constraints
To always do naught but play
This means that those who love you
Must be your nanny night and day
To always fill the needs of your cup
And just throw our own cup, empty, away
Or else give out, give in, give up
And in the end, walk away.

It seems with every passing day
You want this more and more
Your life will be ruled by THC
Until there is room for me no more
For while in the arms of this mistress
You can’t hear what I say
You can’t recall a single thing
Nor care one whit: Indeed YOU are quite gay!
She makes you totally abandon me
It fills me with dismay

This mistress is demanding
She calls you all the time
Like the songs of the ancient Sirens
Whose patrons die before their time
When you can’t have her you are so grumpy
Your irritations I must then bear
My love can’t soothe your anger away
You want nothing but HER there

She urges you to be filled with lust
To turn a deaf ear to loving others
To want only your own satisfaction
Why care who is under the covers?
She wants you to eat yourself to death
And our love she would smother
She pulls you deep inside yourself
To places my words can’t reach
She takes your money, your time, your love
She’s nothing but a leech

Alas! You seem determined
To steal yourself from my side
To engage in risky behaviors
To throw all precautions aside
For when temptations struck you
You sneaked; you cheated; you lied.

If only she would let you be
If only your soul could once again be free
To see the actual reality:

We are here on this plane to be close to each other
To be husband, wife, friend, brother
To do this we must always be
Aware of life and reality
We are here to grow, to learn, to feel
To know life is more than just instant appeal
And looking out for number one
This means we must embrace, not run
From experience that puts us ‘under the gun’
No matter the pain, the anger, the sorrow
This is the only way to a better tomorrow
Of understanding and closeness
Of deep love and genuine joy
Instead of just a tomorrow
With simply one more toy:
Face it, embrace it, grow and enjoy!
This task is eternal, you can’t forever run
Do it in this life, with ME, then we can have fun!

I love this man as much as ever
Who so often I’ve not been able to see
While he has been hidden in the arms of this lover
Who steals him so far away from me.
I know he is still there somewhere, buried deep inside
I wish he would come back to me
So many nights and days have I cried!

When first we met
He had caste her aside
And so my heart had been so filled with pride
On that day I became his bride.
I wish that day was here again
The hopes, the dreams, the love we shared
The man who listened, who smiled, who cared
I miss him so when he flees to her side
She has often made my life a very lonely ride.
I think she takes great pride
In all of the marriages that died!

While in her arms:
He cannot hear my words of love
He cares not for my tears
He cares naught for his very soul
He can’t bear the thought of ‘years’
He can’t see you steal his years from him
With your fatal Siren’s song
You make him run, not grow, from fears
You make him so less strong
You steal from him a greatest gift:
A mind so blessed, so smart
You put his brain into a bong
And you tear apart my heart

I hate you Mary Jane
I will hate you every day
Because you stole my love from me
And stole all those years away
