Clearly, I don't eat at fast food restaurants very often. I went thru the drive-thru at Wendy's the other day and got one of those value combos - the bill was more than $7 (burger, fries & drink). I swear the last time I bought one it was just over $5.

(12,132 posts)Even without supersizing, you can get close to 10 bucks at some places (for their "premium" burgers. Premium is a laugh. All they are is thicker but still the same crap.)
Taco Bell is the only place left where you can get a lot of "food" for a couple bucks. But that swill is so detestable you'd be better off flushing 4 bucks down the crapper. You're lucky if that's all that goes down there.
The problem is the convenience. There are a couple places nearby work that offer some decent (and even healthy-ish) food at prices under 10 bucks for meals but you gotta go in. We don't always have time to go in.

(12,712 posts)reason to not frequent fast, almost-like-food places.
I wondering if an ancient technology might be worth exploring when it comes to this whole, drive-through to save time reality is at issue.
Once, long ago, there were actually people, (believe it or not) who possessed a magic tool called "brown bag". They would assemble various food items, (depending on the spell) and place them in this curious container. Then, it is said in fables, they would take this bag places, open it, and magically produce lunch whenever they wanted it and wherever they were.
I even hear that they eventually developed a new school of such magic that included magic boxes and strange bottles that had the power of cold and heat retention.
Can you believe that? I think it's just superstition, myself.
