I kinda lost watching this show but started to watch it again and it's been a great season. I thought they had a great group of chefs and it looks like to be a great finale next week.
I was so glad when Carlos went home. I did not like him at all and let's face it - all the guy made was Mexican food. Not that I have an issue with Mexican food but other Chefs cooked outside their specialty but he always seemed to stick with the same thing again and again.
I was a big fan of Nick but that's because I had to cheer on the home team (he lives in Philly, shame they sent that other Philly guy home quickly - he was a hottie!). I know Nick tended to be a bit of an asshole but those times he butted heads with Carlos I personally thought Carlos was in the wrong. I mean how could you not have a proper knife then borrow someone elses and not clean it! I also think it was wrong that they put Nick on the spot about giving away his immunity that week where it was French vs. Spanish food. Sure Nick did have the worse dish of the 3 on the French team (Him, Stephanie and Shirley). But he did win a very difficult quickfire challenge and the reward was immunity. He had every right to say 'no' to giving up his immunity. And anyone who criticized him has no right - who knows what they would have done if they were in the same position.
In the end it is Nick vs. Nina. I was sad to see Shirley go - she was on a role there with great dishes. But I was glad to see that in the end Nick showed why he deserved to be in the end by winning both the quickfire and elimination challenge. Go Nick!!!

(10,642 posts)I like both of them!
I mean as long as it wasn't Carlos in the final I figured it would be a great winner.

(38,533 posts)She's been pretty consistent w/ her cooking, and I think she's been creative w/ her flavor combinations.
That said, I think that Nick seems to have learned quite a bit (about not over complicating his food) over the last few episodes. I'm not upset that he didn't give up his immunity, but I do remember that episode and when Stephanie said she thought the corn silk was a bad idea, he insisted on it. She told him it would be her on the chopping block--and he ignored her. I didn't like that at all.

(95,337 posts)She was really pushing them to do innovated stuff like that and he was soaking it up since he has a French Cooking background. So I think Nick was doing that crazy stuff to please the French coach too.
He really was the only one in that group that took chances. Of course he didn't succeed but he took the chances.
But in the end I fault the contest, why in gawds name would you give immunity that late in the game for a team challenge.
