Advice if this doesn't get locked. Cat owners whose cats have had surgery.

Right now we are keeping Brody in his cage because he has no control of his mobility. He can't stand up and he keeps trying to craw. In the cage he is flopping like crazy and he needs to keep my wife --his favorite-- in sight at all times. He lays still and stares at her. She might adjust herself on the bed or turn to get a drink and Brody starts moving around until she is in full view again.

Is this normal.

also his tongue is slightly sticking out. We aren't allowed to give him any water until tomorrow because of the pain meds they injected him with and the sedative.

I don't mean to be a pest but I think we are just nervous.

And their behavior and coordination were terrifying. One was about as out if control as yours sounds.....don't worry until tomorrow....I'll bet Brody will be just fine, Maybe a little drunk for another day.

and ask if he can have 1 TEASPOON of water at 2 hour intervals. I did use an eye dropper once. ((hugs))

I had a cat once who had this reaction. I took him to the emergency vet and they watched him until he came out of it.

In general, my vet used to keep my cats for several hours after surgery and they were somewhat out of it and sleepy when they came home. I was told not to let them try to jump on things. By the next morning they were okay.

Once I picked up a cat early and he really was wobbly, but not to the extent you're describing or my cat in my first paragraph.

Hopefully by now things are okay?

I would be inclined not to give him water. You don't want it getting in his lungs.

ing into the cage comforting Brody and this morning she let him out he was standing and walking. He kept trying to hid. Wife figure he was in pain. He wouldn't take the water we offer to him but she put 2 teaspoons of food in a small bowl and place the pain meds in the food. (we are trying not to use the pill gun if possible.) it took him about 10 minutes to gingerly eat most of the soft food the important thing was that he got the meds into him and he left a small bit.

He used the little box than laid in the make shift bed we made for his recovery for an hour before shifting to the floor slightly under the bed.

He wants nothing to do with me but he wants my wife in the room.

All kitties react differently, so this behavior might be totally normal, but just give yourself peace of mind. (One of my cats was fine after surgery. My other cat did not move for seven hours, which was really freaky. But it turned out that she was perfectly fine, too!)
