a couple of you asked about Mama Cat's status

I took her to a vet that asked me to pay what I could this morning as a down payment and they told me I could make payments on the remainder if I needed to. Her blood work is okay but she has a temperature of 105. The vet believes she ate some of a dead bird or squirrel and has a gastrointestinal infection. They gave her an antibiotic shot and I have meds to give her here at home. I have to keep an eye on her and if she's not eating/drinking by morning I'm to bring her back to the vet. She is already walking around some and that's better than she's done in two days. Other good news is that she is negative for fiv/feline leukemia so she gets to join the indoor family. Thanks to all of you who sent her good vibes and positive energy. Special thanks to irisblue and Arcanetrance. I knew there were a lot of good people on DU.

but have no knowledge of cats since I'm allergic so have never been able to have one. Glad to hear things are looking up and the vet sounds awesome for letting you make payments.

Virtual hugs to mama cat. Those don't make me sneeze!

Recently my 4 month old kitten had to go to the vet. She had a 105 temp & the vet said 106 or above is dangerously high (seizures, organ failure). She said I could take cats' temps with a normal thermometer or a digital one (both anally) or use an ear thermometer (in the ear!). I guess I thought the one the vet uses was a special animal one. Duh!
