What say you???
I have a chance to see one or the other tomorrow, and wonder which it should be.
Thanks

(14,944 posts)I wanted to see Saving Mr. Banks but was outvoted. I wouldn't compare the two, just wanted something lighter.

(130,865 posts)Saw Philomena and 12 Years a Slave last week, so we'll decide whether we want dark or light.

(14,944 posts)But it was heartbreaking. I hardly ever go to the movies and that was the one I saw before August:Osage. Next time definitely something lighter!

(130,865 posts)and loved Philomena, but heartbreaking, and THEN, 12 Years a Slave made Philomena feel LIGHTHEARTED!

(7,699 posts)Banks brings back nice memories from my childhood.
But it made me cry also.
Apparently no one is making happy movies anymore.

(12,723 posts)I prefer my fiction totally fictional and find the Disney company's portrayal of its founder to be a steaming load of misogynist revisionism. Kindly, saintly Uncle Walt vs. that mean old biddy makes for a "greater" fantasy than any of the the firm's more fanciful products.

(46,179 posts)I don't know anything about the other, but I saw Mr. Banks recently with my teen-aged grandson; he thought he was humoring me, but ended up loving it. So did I.
I think you can't have been raised on Mary Poppins and not like that one.
