(4,734 posts)remember going into the basement with Mom when she did the clothes on one of these. It was a feeling of comfort and home to slip under fresh sheets that dried in the bright sunshine, kissed by the breeze and smelling so clean...

Good times.
Now there are places where it's against the law to hang your wash outside on your own property. Go figger.

(62,387 posts)My dad got some promotions and pay raises to the point he felt comfortable replacing it.
So they picked out a Sear's Kenmore and the moment we got it the problems started. So many years ago I can't all the details.
My father called, Sears sent a repairman out about three or four times. My father was not satisfied and he wanted a hew machine. The Sears guy basically told him to stick it, there was no problem with his washer.
Since it didn't work anyway he had us boys carry it out of the basement one Saturday and put it out on the parking. He then painted a lemon on the three covered sides and placed a sign that said "Sears Kenmore" on the top.
Sears was out that afternoon. They came to an agreement that we would get our money back. Then my father got a new Maytag that they were quite satisfied with.
