My microwave decided to die, and I am hungry. I lust for meat, cheese and marinara. The only place remotely close to me is Subway, since I don't feel like driving into town 20 minutes.
Anyone know if their meatball sub is any good, and what to put on it to make it decent?

(4,631 posts)I get it with provolone, tomatoes, olives and jalapenos. I also get it toasted.

(21,925 posts)It's nothing like the meatball sandwiches they had years ago at the jazz club Hungry Joe's in the town where I live, where the Italian sauce was thick and spicy and reduced over a long time. Unfortunately, Hungry Joe's burned down some time ago. I would say some freshly grated parmesan cheese and a good dose of black pepper would make the Subway version better, but it wasn't that bad, although not terribly spicy for my taste.

(39,961 posts)I'm indulging in one, right now. The sauce could be tangier, there could be a little more robust zest to the meatballs, but for fast food, what do you expect, I guess.

Mmmmmmmmmm. Now I'm hungry for one.

(39,961 posts)especially on the Italian Herb & Cheese bread. I asked for it toasted, and this particular Subway seems to think warm is "toasted", but over all, I can't complain too much. It hit the spot.
And OMG why didn't I think to ask for pickles!
