Bohemian Rhapsody is minor-league.

(5,435 posts)That's a 'go to' song for a bunch of us at work on karaoke night!
There are 4 of us who will sing that one together, the lead taken by a bouncer who sings for a local band!
We're all ridiculously over-dramatic...

(12,132 posts)because Led Zeppelin was my first and still my favorite band.
Although, StH is probably only in my top 20 of favorite Zep songs.

(8,217 posts)Stairway... I think most guitar hopefuls learn that song first.
Heck, it is the first song I learned in the guitar.
Bohemian Rhapsody is fun, I just can't memorize it.
malthaussen
(17,175 posts)Most of the guitar hopefuls I knew wanted to master that one.
I told 'em to try "Johnny B. Goode" first.

(47,534 posts)At the time I was learning to play the guitar, 100% of the players I ever saw playing it were playing it wrong.
We were playing standard two-string 5th chords when we should have been playing inverted 5ths.

(5,364 posts)I hate to be one of those people that think as soon as Mr/Ms Mainstream like a song, then the song automatically sucks....but I gotta be one of those people. Anyhow, Stairway is so overplayed that I've met scores of people where that's the only LZ tune they've ever heard.

(47,534 posts)Stairway To Heaven for the guitars. Bohemian Rhapsody for the vocals.

(21,046 posts)Because I thought Led Zep sucked the first time I heard them in 1969, and my opinion has not changed. Led Zep uses too much distortion.
You think you can compare STH to Bohemian Rhapsody, which has something like 90 overdubs??? Skill level, anyone?
Secondly: Look at my avatar. The guy's a fucking genius and doesn't use too much distortion.
So sue me.

(2,959 posts)those crazy kids sure knew a thing or two about ladies who like to shop. I've always felt fortunate to live during the time when their creative juices coalesced into such an awesome anthem to dedicated shoppers everywhere. I just wish it hadn't taken me years to figure out the meaning of this song. It was obvious from the first verse to the final line.
KamaAina
(78,249 posts)because it's slightly less overplayed.
