even in the times of the Mighty Pharaohs. I understand the beer back then was pretty awful stuff, but the workers on the pyramids had an understanding that they would get so much beer, so many leeks, and so much bread each day of work.

I can understand rationing the beer and the bread, but they should have been allowed to take a leek whenever they wanted.

(4,741 posts)Any fermented beverage is shite if it's made wrong. A good, crisp, lightly fizzy mead is not.
The way I understand it a lot of ancient "beer" included the actual malt, sort of like a porridge of bread and sprouts soaked in alcohol. I just threw up in my mouth a little.
